It was a decent day, nothing too hot but not too cold either. It was perfect. Especially so since the October air made Ava shiver ever so slightly as she walked across the lawns, her long blonde hair blowing as the breeze passed her by. There was a smile plastered across her pale skin, a smile that made those not of her own house get out of her way. Ava smiling was something uncommon these days, and even her true smiles held something dark behind them, a darkness that could possibly harm others. Surprisingly Ava was not in one of her ruthless moods, she was actually feeling tolerable for a change, but that’s not to say she would go around befriending the mud-bloods and blood-traitors that Hogwarts had to offer, that would go against every fiber of her being if she were to do that. Not to mention it would ruin everything she worked to become since her arrival at the school. Slytherin hadn’t always been so sure of her allegiances since her parents had been Ravenclaws, so the other members of her house had been a little skeptical of her at first, it took her a while to build herself up and she was not about to jeopardize that.
There were a group of third year Hufflepuffs talking off to the side, and Ava decided to have just a little fun. So, without even thinking it over, Ava veered off to the right a little and walked straight through the group of Puffs, pushing a few as she did so "Out of my way.” she said with a particularly nasty smirk on her face. None of them even bothered to say anything to her, though she caught sight of the glares that were directed at her. How pointless would her life be if she didn’t choose to mess with the weakest house of Hogwarts? Pretty pointless, Ava loved to make the others as miserable as possible. There were even days that Ava pestered the members of Slytherin house, but only if they were smaller and less powerful than she. Or if they were from a more influential family, wouldn’t want to cause harm to someone whose child actually mattered in pure-blood society. If they were lowly families, well they were fair game.
Not even twenty feet from where Ava pushed the Hufflepuff apart there was a solitary tree, a tree in which she knew she could take refuge in. It was her tree on most good days, when she was feeling really up to her usual games, she was out by the lake. Or even on the edge of the forbidden forest. This was definitely a tree day. That was her destination, and where she started to head towards. It was a Saturday but not a Hogsmeade weekend, which was no fun at all. If anything, she looked forward to when students would be allowed to head into the town. There were things to buy and people to terrorize, but mostly it was her parents wanting her to buy some new dress robes –some that were not darkly colored- for the winter time, apparently they were going to Italy with Octavian and his family. Ava knew it was just their parents’ way of trying to push out an engagement between the two. It was bound to happen one day but Ava wasn’t so sure she wanted to be engaged at seventeen years old. Alright, it was natural in the pure-blood world to be engaged before school was done but Ava knew that there were things she wanted to do before she even thought about marriage.
It wasn’t that she didn’t find Octavian attractive physically or anything, she did. Not only that but he was also the one person she told everything told growing up. He may have been two years her junior but they had always been very close. One day she hoped that marriage would be in their future. But just not today, and most definitely not this summer. Why, oh why, couldn’t their mothers get that? Ava sighed as she thought about this, sitting under her tree at first. The wind blew her blonde hair lightly once more and Ava smiled at the chill. October was definitely her favorite month of the year; it was the nearing end of fall which meant winter would follow. She wasn’t so big on the snow coming in not very much time, but she didn’t complain about it. Cold was certainly easier to escape than the heat was. A very small smile still on her features, Ava laid back under her tree, hazel eyes closed as she listened to the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves.
