Just beyong the two great oak doors lies the foyer of Hogwarts School. It is the main entrance in and out of the school.

This area is the main gathering area in the school located off the Entrance Hall. Students eat their meals, receive daily owl post, and have certain special events here.

Located on the third floor of the Hogwarts Castle, the Trophy Room contains awards, trophies, cups, plates, shields, statues, and medals kept in crystal glass displays. The Trophy Room is connected to an Armour Gallery. A portrait of Brutus Scrimgeour hangs on one of the walls, hiding a passageway to the Fourth Floor Corridor.

The Hogwarts Library is located on the third and fourth floors of Hogwarts Castle and contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. The library closes at 8pm.

[ ]Room of Requirements
The Room of Requirement is a secret room within Hogwarts that only appears when a person is in great need of it. The room then transforms itself into whatever the witch or wizard needs it to be at that moment in time, although there are some limitations.

[ ]Hospital Wing
Students and staff who suffer mishaps and injuries during the school year are sent or brought to the hospital wing for treatment. The hospital wing is well equipped to deal with all kinds of magical and mundane injuries, from broken limbs to regrowing lost bones.

[ ]Detention
This classroom serves many purposes for those who have been caught in the act of breaking the rules. Teachers may do what they see fit as punishment for students. Hopefully you don't find yourself here too often!

Located in one of the towers, this is where Hogwarts houses all the owls of the students and staff. If you're lucky you may find a letter from home just as it comes flying through the window. Be careful of bird droppings though!

The Forbidden Forest, also known as Dark Forest or Black Forest, borders the edges of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry grounds. As its name suggests, it is strictly off limits to students - except in the case of detention, or Care of Magical Creatures lessons that occasionally take place there.

Let the games begin! Hogwarts has its own pitch where Quidditch teams could practice, hold try-outs and play matches against each other. Each year will see a total of six inter-house matches (each house competing for the Quidditch Cup), along with numerous training sessions by each house team.

The Study of Ancient Runes, commonly shortened to Ancient Runes, is an elective course at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, that can be taken by students third year and above.

Arithmancy is a magical discipline that included predicting the future with numbers and numerology. Those who practiced Arithmancy were called Arithmancers. Arithmancy is an elective subject offered from the third year on at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Astronomy classes take place in the top-most level of the Astronomy Tower, the tallest tower in Hogwarts Castle, and include sky observation sessions with telescopes . Astronomy is a subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is a required subject for first through fifth years, but can be dropped in the sixth year.

Care of Magical Creatures is a class taught usually outside the walls of the castle on the lawns. It focuses on teaching students the different types of magical creatures that exist and the best ways to care for them. It is a class that is unavailable to both first and second years, but students have the option of signing up for this class in their third year and then dropping this class again in their sixth year.

[ ]Defence Against the Dark Arts
DADA is a class taught at Hogwarts that focuses on defensive techniques to block spells, charms, curses, hexes, and jinxes cast by other wizards and witches, counteract the Dark Arts, and to protect from dark magical beasts and creatures such as the boggart. Defence Against the Dark Arts is taught to Hogwarts students from the first year to the fifth, with the option of N.E.W.T. classes in the sixth and seventh years for students who qualify.

The course of Divination offer students a chance to experience the practice of predicting the future. This course is unavailable to both first and second years, but third year students and up can sign up for this class.

[ ]Herbology
Herbology is the study of magical and mundane plants and fungi. Students will learn how to use and care for these magical plants and fungi, while also learning what other potions and rememdies can be made from them as well. This class is required for all students first to fifth year but can be dropped by sixth and seventh year N.E.W.T. students.

History of Magic is a required class for all students attending Hogwarts. The class is a study of magical history. History of Magic is taught from the first year to the fifth, with the option of N.E.W.T. courses in the sixth and seventh years.

Muggle Studies is part of Non-Magic Studies Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is exactly what the name implies - the study of the daily lives of Muggles and how they cope with electricity and not magic.

In this class, students learn how to brew potions, following specific recipes and using various magical ingredients to create their potions, starting with simple ones first and moving to more advanced ones as they progress in knowledge.

[ ]Transfiguration
Transfiguration is a subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It teaches the art of changing of the form and appearance of an object. There are also many branches of Transfiguration, including Cross-Species Transfiguration and Human Transfiguration.

Wizarding World

Not exactly the best place to hang out due to the overlapping of muggles and wizarding folk but it is the way to get to Platform 9 3/4 and the Hogwarts Express. Be sure you know where you're going or you may get a bit lost!

[ ]The Ministry of Magic (7 sub-boards)
The Ministry of Magic is the governmental authority for the Wizarding world in Britain. The basic mission of the Ministry is to keep the Muggles from finding out about an entire culture of magical folk. It consists of several departments.

[ ]Diagon Alley (19 sub-boards)
Tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron in London ("Three up...two across...") will reveal an archway which is a portal into Diagon Alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants.

[ ]Knockturn Alley
Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts: Knockturn Alley. From the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent.

Hogsmeade is a picturesque little village of thatched cottages and shops, with enchanted candles hanging in the trees during the holidays. It stands right next to Hogwarts.

St. Mungo's Hospital is the primary wizarding hospital in Britain. Located in an abandoned department store in London, the hospital's Healers treat wizards for all sorts of magic-related illnesses and injuries, and in extreme circumstances has been known to treat Muggles as well.

Houses in the wizarding world vary greatly in size and shape. Some people live in the town of Godric's Hollow, a well-known wizarding town, while some wizards live in muggle cities.
