. The time of day had yet to be decided. At least by Lucius. He had spent his entire morning in the Slytherin Common Rooms, raising a brow here and there at a younger student who presented himself or herself near him. The nerve of some kids, acting as though they had the chance at getting to know a Malfoy. Regardless of blood status, there had to be an age limit set for whom could speak to and get to know this wonderful man his classmates called Lucius. Why, his name in itself sounds incredibly powerful. Why would he have any concerns regarding a student well below his age, experience, and interest. Perhaps had they been a bit older, and preferably on the more mature side they may have had a chance. It was hard to tell, though, the way some of them seemed a bit slack-jawed staring at him with their childish eyes. It disgusted him beyond explanation.
It was the final young girl, a third year who had sat all too close to him, who plucked his last nerve. She had batted her eyelashes at him like she had something extra or special to bring to the table that no other girl would. "Darling, you hold no interest for me. None, whatsoever. I was dating third years as a first year. Be on your way." He shooed her away as though she were a common housefly and when she didn't move, he stood up himself, clearing his throat and brushing his robes as if he had been defiled in some sort of way by the mere close quarters with a girl her age. He then straightened himself out and proceeded to walk out of the Common Room for the first time since yesterday's dinner in the Great Hall.
He pulled out his golden pocket-watch he always carried with him and checked its time. Breakfast was over, and lunch time was probably halfway through, as it was about 12:45pm. Lucius rushed toward the dining facility to grab a quick bite to eat and found very small groups scattered among all the tables. Too much of the Ravenclaw table was still filled with eager students studying and taking no chances in missing out on extra credit for all of their classes. It always bothered him how happy they were to sit around their books all day long. Is there ever a time to have fun for such a stuck-up "intellectual" such as that? He doubted it.
After tearing into a sandwich as fast as he could, Lucius made his way out of the castle for some fresh air. As soon as he threw the doors open, he was greeted by the not-so friendly sun. He scoffed at the bright rays of sunlight that beat upon him and tried to burn into his skin, but he regained composure and stalked off toward the lawns, where he might sit and relax for a spell. He had even considered the possibility of grabbing his broom for a nice fly around the grounds. It wasn't really like him to keep to himself, let alone on a weekend, but he wasn't sure what to do otherwise. He had done quite a bit of disciplining throughout the week for his prefect duties, torturing the smaller students and messing with the ones his own age. As far as friends went, he had few who enjoyed spending a lot of time with him, and as far as love interests went, he had none at the moment.
Lucius plopped himself in the middle of the soft grass, his knees slightly bent as he let his arms fall loosely over them, and he began to look around. There were plenty of younger students darting around on broomsticks - it might be fun to go fetch his and do a bit of showing off, not to mention possibly causing the plummet of one of the young Hufflepuffs. He remained watchful, eyes darting across the sky with all of the brooms, wondering if he would get the will to do the work it would take to grab his broom. More kids were sitting all around the grounds talking and playing childish games, and then there were still even more Ravenclaws spread around studying their stupid books like it was all they knew how to do to function. He rolled his eyes and fell backward, arms behind his head as he squinted up and continued to lazily watch rather than to join. [/blockquote]

Pureblood: not earned or given, but inherited. It was not just a measly little gift or a reward, but a privilege to only those whose parents were proud enough to have their priorities straight and marry into the pureblood line.It was an honor, a greatness thrust upon you that you needed to be sure that you lived up to every single breathing moment of your life. And you can be sure that Reid Avery did just that.
It wasn't enough that Reid was pureblood--although that accounted more than anything else in the whole world could. No no, Reid also happened to be startlingly blessed in the looks department. Not that he was surprised: cleaner blood definitely produced better results, but it was an added bonus. The incredible intelligence and fantastic personality just topped off the whole sweet delicious cake.
In a word, Reid Avery was...well....perfect. Or at least he thought so. And he expected everyone else to as well.
He had gotten out of bed this morning, taken one look at his bedraggled appearance in the mirror, and shrugged before pulling on his wrinkled uniform, with his untucked shirt and his tie hanging limp around his neck. It wouldn't matter anyway. Girls swooned at his feet no matter what he did and he was still better than everyone else either way. Unlike a few of his Slytherin friends though, Reid relished the attention he got from almost everyone. He'd wink at unsuspecting second years, sleep with five halfbloods hotties in a night, and throw himself into the awaiting arms of all the people below him. Of course he did have standards--he'd scoff at any mudblood and gryffindors made him cringe, but he couldn't help but thrive off the attention anyone else gave him.
There were very few that were on his level, but it was only towards these people that he showed respect. Reid didn't exactly have friends, because friends was too childish and immature. No, Reid had equals and colleagues. Having "friends" only got you into trouble. The only one you can trust is yourself.
After seducing an innocent hufflepuff fourth year into giving him the entire breakfast she had intended to bring up to her vomiting, feverish friend, Reid munched happily on his bacon as he strutted across the lawns of the Hogwarts grounds. The weather was beautiful and it would only be that much more so with his presence, so why not just give the world what it needed?
The only problem with being perfect was that there was very little that was good enough for you and it left Reid incredibly bored most of the time. It seemed such a chore to have to find amusement for himself--shouldn't people be lining up to amuse him and his equals?--and he sighed heavily as he looked around for anything to entertain him. It was then that his eyes fell upon Lucius Malfoy and a grin spread across his face. Malfoy, definitely one of his equals, was someone worth being in his presence. He wasn't waste of breath or space. But what on earth was he doing?
Avery stood above Malfoy, spread out across the ground, with a raised eyebrow and a crooked cock of his head, "Dueling with first years again, mate? I told you to watch out for those nasty little buggers."[/blockquote]

. A few of the kids around him and made some feeble attempts to speak to him in the following ten minutes from when he had laid out on the grass. A fifth year Slytherin girl had settled herself into the grass in the perfect position to block the sun from his face, and although he liked not having to squint, he knew the game she was playing. "What's your name?" he asked her as he looked at her with an interested an expression. She was a plain jane, certainly nothing to write home to mum and dad about. She blushed and stumbled over her words as she told him it was Priscilla. Once she had so, he propped himself up on one elbow and ran a hand through his hair, smirking. "Well, Priscilla. You may be a Slytherin as well as Pureblood, but the only place you deserve to be is at my feet or on your knees. Carry on." He shot her a smile and rolled back down to his back as she got up and left.
It was soon after that he had another figure block his sunlight again, and he was tempted to do a fair amount of cursing to get the person to move. It was just when he opened his mouth that he heard that cruel voice, nearly as mean as his own, speak to him. Avery. Lucius sat himself up and stared back over his shoulder and up at him. "You know there is no dueling going on here, Avery. Even if I gave a first year the beginning shot, I would still have them down with one spell." At this, he stood himself up and brushed himself off, looking about himself to be sure he had done a proper job of cleaning himself off. After a very close inspection, he turned back to Avery and stuck out his right hand to shake it. It was something Lucius did with his equals, a sure way to give them the respect where they deserved it, regardless of how he treated them after.
A broomstick came flying just passed Lucius' head at that very moment and he ducked out of the way at the very last possible second. The idiot was about to crash, but he was lucky that it wasn't straight into one of the two Slytherins standing around. "You're lucky you crashed or I would blast you into the next century!" he yelled, withdrawing his wand and waving it at the boy angrily. He regained his composure as best he could and turned back to Reid. "What are you up to this morning? Breaking hearts and forgetting names?" This guy was known as a one night stand sort of guy. It was amazing how girls flocked to him, probably mainly to try and "tame a wild horse," or something to that effect. Whatever it was, or whatever he did, it worked. "You really should up your standards. I heard about the Hufflepuff girl a few nights ago. Attractive? Yes. Good enough? Let's go back a bit to answer that. A Hufflepuff?" Lucius chuckled quietly at Avery.
Looking around he saw there were a hell of a lot of girls staring in their direction. There were some boys, too, but the amount of girls was overwhelming. It was good to be sought after. Forget the old days where men chased the women. Here were two attractive males standing side-by-side demanding attention from every girl in the area, and they were getting it. Lucius smirked and looked back to Avery, sort of motioning around them. "See this? We have our pick of the lot. It's okay to have standards for men like us." To be honest, Lucius didn't care about Reid's one night stands, because he did the same thing, just not nearly as often. It was a little respectable that Avery could have his pick of the lot whenever he wanted. Perhaps he could have had the same, but he usually chose not to. Picking on friends and enemies always produced a little fun for a boring day. [/blockquote]
