i am doll parts, doll mouth, doll legs, i am doll arms, big veins, dog bait, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -What would life be with out water? It was the fuel of all life on the planet. It covered roughly seventy percent of the earths surface and human beings were composed of a large amount of water. The idea of a world without water was almost unfathomable. Nothing would be able to survive and everything on earth would come to pass as it would begin to to wither away and die. It was a extremely important part of every living organisms lifestyle and it was also something that was under appreciated by most.
At the same time, water could take away all the life that it gave. Death by drowning. What a rotten way to go! Well at least that was how Selene viewed it. She imagined the liquid pouring into her lungs and asphyxiation occurring, as there was nothing she could do to prevent it. No, no, no. Drowning was not the girls ideal way of dying. She would take any thing else (except maybe falling...) over drowning any and every day for the rest of her life.
Staring out towards the Black Lake, Selene wondered how many people, if any, had drowned or died in it. Maybe a young witch or wizard went for a swim and suddenly became tangled in some seaweed, only to find out that they were not able escape. Or maybe someone mysteriously found themselves in the water and didn't know how to swim, so as time went by they just found themselves getting closer and closer to death. There were many ways for someone to meet death in the Black Lake, and not many of them were pretty, except for maybe by the Giant Squid... That was sure to be captivating.
But for now, the water seemed to be ever so peaceful, as if it was under a deep sleep. Selene had always found the lake to be quite an enthralling area of the Hogwarts grounds. There were many things about the waters that no one knew anything about. There was a whole other world down in the lake that was almost completely untouched by human presence. She was completely fascinated by the idea of it and loved to come sit by the lake just to see if she might be able to get a glimpse at the world below. Besides, there was also the fact that not many people ever seemed to venture close to the lake, which was perfect for Selene.
She swore that one day she would make it into the lake and explore all that it had to offer. One day. But that would have to be a day when she wasn't so bothered by the whole idea of how cold the waters appeared to be. For now she would much rather enjoy sitting beside the lake opposed to swimming in it. Usually she would enjoy diving right into something, but this was a case where her mind was made up, today she would far rather enjoy watching from afar. Though one day, she hoped, that would change.
Changes were becoming a more prominent theme in Selene's life. Especially when it came to both relationships with others, and herself. What was the poor girl to do though? She was a teenager after all. Even better was that she was a sixteen year old. Each day life threw something new at her doorstep, sometimes she welcomed it and other times, not so much. It was the path that her life was taking at this point in life, and all she could do was take it as it comes, every bump, bridge, turn and pothole. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -they really want you they really do

. Although summer break had ended and a new school year had begun, summer was still very present. It had declared it's presence all day that day, keeping everyone moody and pissed off due to it's choking heat. There wasn't a cloud to shield a soul from the long rays of sunlight that reached out to poke, no, not poke, punch everyone. Right in the stomach. Really, it was very difficult to see anything at all, what with the blinding sunlight. It was pretty easy to dodge the sun within the castle, but once outside, there was very little hiding away to be done. It seemed that even the tree branches, which may have ordinarily defended students from the sun's harmful rays, were being penetrated in full. It didn't keep most inside, but for some of the more fair-skinned, it did.
Lucius was one of these who had spent the entire day inside. In fact, he spent as much of it as he possibly could underneath the school in his Common Room. Even most of the Slytherins seemed to be outside today to enjoy the warm weather, because there was little foot traffic to be had in the Dungeon. On most other days, this isolation might have fit Lucius was well. He didn't like to be bothered by most of the students in the school, and he made sure to get in his share of bullying while classes were going on or in between them. He took another look around the room, seeing only a few young students who were making a break for the door and probably to catch some fresh air. Fresh air wouldn't be a bad idea, he thought to himself, trying to convince himself that he should leave the dark Common Room. The air here is stale... probably doesn't do much for my health if I'm constantly breathing it.
He stood up and strutted to the door. He thought about grabbing the book he had been reading, but since it was one of the Dark Arts and he would be surrounded by curious eyes, it might not be best. So he left without it, and with no idea what he might do on the grounds. Hopefully someone he recognised would be waiting for him, or he would probably get into some trouble hexing an innocent Gryffindor. He assumed it would be a Gryffindor because they were the brave ones who liked to try and cross him just to look good in front of his other Housemates. Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs more often than not kept to themselves. Slytherins knew better than to bother him while he was out, unless they had something to offer.
By this point in his thought process, he was outside of the school. There were many places he could go to, but the one that had his attention was the Black Lake. It might have been the heat that attracted him to the water, or it might have been the familiar sight of his classmate, Selene Greengrass. A Pureblooded witch and one year younger, he remembered meeting her before school had even begun. Their two families were close, and Lucius had, in fact, been pushed on her as a possible suitor in the future. The families would be delighted to know that the two of them were communicating on any level, and so he would do just that - open a line of conversation with her to make his father happy.
He approached her, ever step and movement he made deliberate. His hair had gotten long, almost too long to control. He sometimes slicked it back, but today he had let it fall around his face softly, and he liked that rugged look a little. He wore a crooked smile as he stood next to where Selene sat. "What are you staring at?" he asked, peering out over the lake that held her attention so firmly. Finding absolutely nothing but the dark waters, he looked back at her. "How is your family?" If all else failed, he found that it was always good to ask how someone's family was, especially when they were so close with his own. Remaining in a standing position, he leaned a shoulder on one of the nearest trees to them. Guess it was a good thing heading outdoors today. It wasn't very often that he got to see Selene around. i am doll parts, doll mouth, doll legs, i am doll arms, big veins, dog bait, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -At first, Selene was so deep in thought that she didn’t see that anyone was coming towards her. But she did eventually notice someone’s shadow was hovering over her and she looked up to find Lucius Malfoy only inches away from her, signaling her return back into a world with people in it.
Ah, company. She thought, brushing herself off as she began to stand up. Selene hated the feeling of being looked down upon. It made her feel like she was inferior to the person with whom she was speaking with and frankly, that just wouldn't do, now would it? But then again, many people at Hogwarts, especially those in her own house and even herself, viewed almost everyone else as being inferior to themselves. They all thought that they were much better than anyone else who they would come to meet. Each Hogwarts house had some sort of pride and belief that their house was better than all the rest, especially between Slytherin and Gryffindor. Then there were the pure-bloods thought that they were far superior to any other type of human being. Where ever you turned in the wizarding world, you would find your eyes set upon someone who at some point believed they were better than someone else. Selene did not really have a problem with that, as she often engaged in such affairs. The only thing that the young girl had a problem with was when this inferiority was directed at herself. But even so, Selene was only five foot five and Lucius Malfoy was, well, much taller than she happened to be. She had always longed to be taller, just for the very reason that she completely loathed looking up at others. It appeared that she was just about finished growing though, so all of her hopes of being at least five foot ten would never become a reality. It was all to blame on those darn genes of hers. In reality, she was actually just in between the height of her mother and father. How very lucky she happened to be.
Here came the tricky part. She now had to twist her words so that she was able to explain what she was doing, to some extent, but all the while, keeping it so that she didn't sound like a complete loon with her deep and philosophical thinking. "Why, can't you see what I'm looking at? Absolutely nothing of course!" A touch of sarcasm was the perfect way to help along a conversation. "Well... no." She began, as she was ready to tell some of the truth. "I'm not so much staring at something as I am thinking. Thinking about the world underneath, as well as just water in general and all that it can create, both in life and destruction. " Telling people about what she was doing never came easily to Selene, and after she had done so she always felt unsure of herself and what she said. Letting people know what she was thinking, even if it was as simple as what she had told Lucius, was just like giving a little piece of herself away. A little piece that she would of later much rather have kept to herself.
"How is your family?"
Well that was the million dollar question... How was her family? Selene happened to come from the same type of family background as Lucius. In fact, the Malfoys and the Greengrasses were two families that were very good friends of the other. The name, along with many other pure-blood family names, had been etched in her memory from a very young age. But the thing with those types of families was that they were very strict and for the most part every member had their own business to attend to. Selene never heard or knew much about what went on with her family unless she was visiting them or if she, on the very rare occasion, received a letter from them. Even so, these letters happened to be filled with a set of instructions, or guidelines (as Selene preferred to view them before she completely discarded them), as to how she should go about doing things, and who she should talk to, ect. Utter garbage in her mind.
As that was the truth, she couldn't exactly go about saying things like that. Keeping up appearances was everything in today's society and lying was just something everyone because accustom to both doing and hearing. But for Selene, perfection was key and the charade of having a perfect family was most important. "My family is quite well, actually. Mother is off keeping to herself and trying to write some sort of article that she has been working on for ages. As for my father, he is pretty well making a fine living for himself and the rest of my family. And how are the Malfoys?" Sometimes though, she just wondered why families were such an integral part some peoples lives... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -they really want you they really do

. Selene was a little different than most of the girls in the school, but even more so she was strange to have been sorted into Slytherin House. She had the whole bloodline thing working for her in her favour, as well as the long line of family in Slytherin, but there was something odd about her, simply put. She was just a little too graceful and too careful to be a member of the cruel and cunning Slytherin family. It actually kept Lucius more interested rather than threw him off of her. The way she stood from her seated position made him almost shiver because of how perfectly simple she looked doing it... it didn't make sense even to his own mind, but there was something about her that kept him on edge.
His parents were constantly pushing him to date this girl and that girl, but as an old family friend, Selene Greengrass was at the forefront of their minds. The Greengrass name was almost as respectable as the Malfoys, maybe even on the same line as it (though it was something they would never admit to anyone), and as old family friends, it just made sense that they might one day be married. Lucius wasn't ready for any type of commitment, though he did tend to hold a steady relationship or two a year just to keep his parents happy with him. Narcissa Black had always held quite an interest for him, but he was trying to brush that off - it was hard to trust that family since Andromeda and Sirius had fallen off the wagon so badly. They were really getting a lot of bad reputation for all of that... if Lucius had feelings to give for the situation, he might even feel bad for all of them.
Ah, there was the reason she belonged in Slytherin. Lucius always stumbled over the reason until she spoke. She had that thick sarcasm in all of her words. She made it a point to partake in a lot of angry words between Houses and students of lower blood statuses, but the sarcasm that she couldn't help but use made it real. Since Sirius had completely turned the tables on the Pureblood society by denying his family name, words no longer meant a thing. It was actions that held any sort of weight, and somehow the sarcasm that dripped off of Selene's words made her acceptable, despite her graces and almost innocent beauty.
He still remained against the bark of the tree as she stood in front of him. There was something he enjoyed about looking down on people, especially girls. Specifically pretty girls who might be a possible future girlfriend one day, though he hated to look into it that far. He tended to keep the girls he actually held any interest for for a future date at which he might be ready to settle down. Selene and Narcissa were two of them, whereas Lilith was a little less of the girl he wanted to bring home to his parents and more of a play thing. Yes, Lilith would be a girl to date during the seventh year, but unless things made a drastic change for him, Selene and Narcissa would probably have to wait it out. Regardless, having this seemingly fragile girl standing before him caused a smirk.
"I would venture that what lies underneath are a lot of things we ought not be messing with, Selene," he told her, his tone a little less informative and slightly more condescending. It wasn't him meaning to be a prick, it was just the way that he had been raised. In fact, he hadn't even noticed how rude the way he spoke might be perceived in poor company. "So much can cause life and destruction. There's something about the lake here, in all of its peacefulness that makes you appreciate your own life. I've come down here just to observe it myself a few times." A breeze rushed up around them after he finished speaking and he made sure to fix his wind-blown hair before looking back out toward the water.
There was a good amount of silence before she spoke again in regards to his question about her family. He had almost forgotten that it was even asked, but was glad for the break in their temporary pause. He looked back to her from the lake and listened to what she had to say. It wasn't something he was actually very interested in, but he pretended to be engulfed by the subject, nodding at the appropriate times. "My family is doing well. They keep busy, so I don't hear much from them during the school year. We had a busy summer, though. We're all excited for my graduation this year, of course." He caught himself yawning at how boring this conversation was, and he decided it might be a good idea to change subjects.
"Will you be attending any of the Quidditch events this year?" he asked her, just making small talk at this point. He guessed that either the conversation would take a turn for the better eventually, or he would find a reason to leave it. He supposed he really wasn't in much of a conversational mood or he would have had better material to work with. It didn't help that he and Selene didn't spend a lot of time together aside from family visits, so what they did have in common wasn't very widely known between the two. It couldn't get any worse than the level it was at now, though, except for turning into that awkward silence stage. Now that was completely possible. [/font][/blockquote]

i am doll parts, doll mouth, doll legs, i am doll arms, big veins, dog bait, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Lucius was probably right but oh how Selene wished that he was not. She wanted to explore what she was told she was not supposed to. She wanted to take a look down into territory that had never been ventured. She wanted to see sites that no one before her had came to look at. Whether it be the deep depths of the Earth’s waters, or the universe that existed outside of the planets atmosphere, Selene wanted to see it. She wanted to see how others creatures existed and how they survived in an environment so different from her own. Her own world could easily feel too restricting for the young girl and she would never be able to rest easily knowing that there was so much more out there. So much more that she was unable to reach.
Wanderlust. That was what it was. She had that strong desire to travel and see all that she could. It wasn’t escapism, it was just the wish to see the things that were all around her. Selene just wanted to see things and maybe then she would become so caught up with the things that she saw that she would never return to the place of which she came... But she could never do that. There were things expected of her. Things that, because of her family status, were supposedly required of her. She didn’t want to leave her family but she did want to have a life of her own. Perhaps it was escapism then, for this was a wish the girl was frequently coming to possess but then again... Perhaps she was nothing more than a young and naive sixteen year old who would one day come to her senses and follow the road which had been laid out before her. The road of opportunity. Or the road that lead to a path, which lead to a life full of repetition.
“But why not!? Why can’t I just take a look at it all? It exists on this world just like we do. Why can’t I see the world that so few can admit to seeing? I want to explore. I want to see the things people only dream about” She replied to Lucius in great defiance to his beliefs on the matter. On the contrary, Selene didn’t believe that she was going to mess with. The Earth was a vast landscape full of many wondrous creatures and sights. Though many different species called the planet “home” only one species had truly come out as superior, and that was Selene’s own. So why was she not able to take a look at what she longed to see? “You can see all that you can from afar but maybe, just maybe, seeing it all, up close, for what it truly is, would bring a whole new feeling to you!? Life is precious and I understand that. And maybe you’re right about all of this but I want to enrich my life in a way different from many others. I want it to be so much more spectacular than the average person who wastes their whole life stuck in some job at the ministry or worse, regretting the things that they, once upon a time, yearned so much for!”
Selene wanted to be so much more than she was and the future was something that troubled her immensely. She didn't want to think about it. She wanted to live in the moment and take life as it came to her but her mind just couldn't be troubled to such things. The need to think of whether her choices in the future would truly be those that would benefit her, was something that held a grasp upon her life. Sometimes the moment terrified her just as much as the future did.
The present moment was one that troubled her just as much as the next. Lucius Malfoy was a person of whom Selene was never able to make a full opinion on. For one thing she was completely fascinated by him. There was something about his personality that drew her in but at the same time threw her out. It was a feeling she received from most Slytherins she had come across, even one that she so regularly gave out. The constant feeling that at any moment you could be being used, twisted, or manipulated in any way, shape or form. Everywhere she turned, she couldn't avoid it but what she could do was not fall victim to the ways others. Sometimes though, she caved. The thing with Lucius was that she could see herself falling victim to this. But the difference was that, in a way, it just made her interest grow.
As the conversation continued into Lucius explaining how his family was, Selene didn't pay much attention to his words as she was too perplexed by the boy. Staring into his eyes she tried to look for a trace of something that would give her any sort of access into his thoughts. Give her an idea of the feelings which lay beyond the words. Alas, her concentration was broke as she heard what sounded to be a question. A question about one of the most interesting subjects that Selene could ever be bothered with. Quidditch.
As much as she longed to be above all of the world she stood upon, flying was something that Selene had never really dove into. For this reason, Quidditch was also something that had never caught the girls attention. There were far more important things that she would rather be doing than to try and comprehend all the rules of this wizarding game. "I may." She said as she took a glance back over to the lake, releasing a sigh. "But let me be honest with you when I say that I've never really taken an affection towards the sport. Games such as that just seem so trivial to me when there's so much more that I'd rather be doing. Wasting my time watching people fly around throwing things around? Please! I'd rather take a look at what lies in the depths of The Forbidden Forest! Actually, that would be quite exciting..." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -they really want you they really do
