"lucius" has a latin meaning, which is "bringer of light." this is slightly ironic, knowing who he is, and what his family is all about. however, it is possibly in hopes of his bright future in the new world.
abraxas is lucius' father's name, and as the malfoys are a pretty conceited bunch, it wouldn't be very shocking if they oftentimes named sons after their fathers.
as for malfoy, if you must know, we are some of the most respectable wizards known to man. pure-blooded and wealthy, not to mention well known in the magical world.

What? He is the most important person in Lucius' life, after all!
` history !
The Malfoy family has always be feared and respected, mainly due to the money they have as well as their lust for power. Of course, it also helps that they only marry within their blood status, and therefore are one of the dwindling amounts of fully pure wizards and witches in the magical world. It is true what they say also that the negatives oftentimes overshadow the positives, and therefore the Malfoys are a group of people that really stand out in the minds of most of their fellow wizards. In this sense, Lucius is of course no different. In fact, in many sense, he is no different than his family.
Although his father, Abraxas, has worked for the Ministry of Magic for a very long time now, his allegiance has always fallen with the Dark Lord. The Malfoys are also well known for keeping their dirty laundry underwraps very well. Soon after Abraxas' joining with Lord Voldemort, Lucius was born to them. Glad to have a son, Abraxas and his wife chose to have no more kids, as was a fairly normal practice in the family's history. This was due to the fact that it was easier to keep one child on the right path than have numerous who may choose the wrong one. The last thing the Malfoy family would tolerate is a child who presented himself as an embarrassment or disgrace to the family name.
Growing up, Lucius was for the most part very alone. His father's job, though the details of it were unknown to him and his mother, was very labor intense, and he was rarely home. Not to mention their ties to the Dark Lord, and all the secretive scheming that went on there kept him out most of the time. Until Lucius was five, his mother did not work, and she spent her time with her son, teaching him all the basics of life, as well as those of the magical world he would become more involved with in a few years. She spoiled him with love as well as material things, but as he had very little connection with other boys and girls, she put him at what some may call a disadvantage for when he reached school age. However, for the Malfoys, this was ideal for his raising. Any social gatherings in the family had either all adults or very few children, and Lucius became the bully and leader of them all. This, of course, carried over to his school years at Hogwarts.
Once he was a little older, his mother went on to work a job at St. Mungo's, though it was against Abraxas' wishes. Lucius wound up being raised mainly by himself, though there were family friends who came around to watch him. He spent most times alone, wandering their large manor by himself and trying to find things to keep him occupied until his father or mother got home. He read a lot of his father's books and enjoyed spending time outside on his broomstick. Their location made it impossible to play with anyone aside from the kids that came around for celebratory parties that were thrown every once and a while. All of these factors helped shape Lucius into the cold-hearted young man he is today.
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."

[this was actually a post I made on another site, edited a bit to make it for Lucius. I was playing a Draco, though, and I often play the two very similarly.]
It had been fairly early when everyone had pulled themselves from there slumber and somehow yanked themselves out of bed. It was nothing to watch, owing to the fact that nothing really exciting happened, but Lucius had done so anyway. He had no desire in visiting Hogsmeade today, which was odd seeing as he usually did. Once the creaking of the other boys' beds began, Lucius couldn't keep his eyes shut tight enough, and he found himself staring at the bed closest to him on his right. He laid on his side and ran a hand through his soft blond hair, staring at the boy at the bed beside him as he obviously considered ditching Hogsmeade as well, a very difficult to think through. However, the opportunity to leave the Hogwarts grounds must have been an offer too tempting to refuse, because he suddenly jumped right up and started fixing his bed. At this, Lucius snickered almost silently and rolled over and onto his back.
He stared up at the thin black cloth that was drawn across his bed. It was incredibly see-through, but it seemed to be meant to act as somewhat of a shield from the others in the room. It gave just a tiny bit of privacy, while still ultimately leaving none. Though it was enough for the boys, since they rarely, if ever, had anything to hide from anyone. He extracted his golden pocket watch from underneath his pillow and squinted to read the time. It was early morning, nearing nine, and at that very moment, Lucius was glad that the Slytherin Common Room was so strategically positioned underground. If it had not been, the bright rays of the sun would surely have been beating down upon him and his roommates.
The hustle of the other boys in the dormitories had only just begun, as there was the making of beds, changing of clothes, and grabbing up of things for their trip out of the castle today. Once they left, however, things were absolutely dead quiet, as Lucius was officially the only person left in the room. There were still the sounds of students' voices passing the dormitories, but it was nothing too distracting, and it was actually a bit soothing, really. Lucius had no interest in going back to sleep, regardless of how peaceful things had become. He had just wanted no input from his fellow Slytherins as to why he wasn't wanting to go to Hogsmeade with him. So, as he was now entirely by himself, he slowly moved his legs to the side of the bed and sat up, stretching more now with the ability of doing so. His thin black socks were greeted by the equally thin carpeted floor, and underneath, cold cement. The feeling was comforting, really, after sleeping underneath the thick comforters all night long. It had turned into sort of a morning wake-up call.
And so Lucius went about getting up and getting ready to spend a day without people pestering him or following him around like lost puppies. He got cleaned and got dressed in his normal Saturday outfit; black slacks and a button-down shirt. The only difference in today's attire, was, of course, the colour of the shirt he wore. It was a sort of shiny silver, and he left only the very top buttons at the collar undone. Folding up the sleeves carefully so that they were even on either side, he checked himself in one of the mirrors in the room. There was a bit of scruff growing on his chin that could only be considered a five o' clock shadow, and it was hardly noticeable. Besides, a little hair could make him look a bit older. Though it may not be much, it was still something, and that would have to do. He wasn't too worried anyway with who would be looking at him, as he planned on spending the day, or at least the afternoon, in solitude.
His first stop was going to be the grounds, and there was no real rhyme or reason to this. He just felt like going outside might do him some good. The sun was bright but it wasn't so hot, and he was taking long strides down to one of the largest trees, when his eyes caught up with the figure of someone else. She moved gracefully, much different than the way most people walk, and almost like a ballerina. It seemed to him that she was just taking a normal walk (for her, that is), but it appeared to be so careful and every step looked as though it were being critiqued by her the whole time. Lucius found himself walking straight toward her in a dumbstruck manner, and when he got as close to ten feet from her, he caught himself and stopped dead. It was the oddest thing, because it was like he couldn't keep his mouth shut. "Hello," he said without a second thought about it, and then he realised how stupid he sounded. "Erm, I'm Lucius Malfoy. And you are?"

"Albus Severus..you were named for the two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew."
